Double-Deep Handling of CHEP Pallets

For a production application in the food industry, an eccentric lifting device with a double-deep telescopic fork unit, type D3/2-65-174-ZK-1400, was installed on a customer supplied transfer car. The solution handles standard CHEP pallets measuring 1,200 x 1,000 mm, with a height of up to 2,400 mm and a load weight of 1,300 kg. The load carriers are picked up crosswise. This enables the transfer car to safely take the pallets from the chain conveyor and transport them to the designated buffer locations.

Compensating for Different Pick-Up and Delivery Positions

The buffer locations and the chain conveyor are positioned at different pick-up and delivery points to each other. For this reason, a double-deep telescopic fork unit is used. It can pick up and deliver load carriers at two different depths, compensating for the varying transfer points within its operating range. The delivery height is 1,000 mm. For reinsertion into the material flow, the telescopic fork unit picks up the pallets from the buffer locations and transfers them precisely to the chain conveyor. This creates a clear and reliable material flow between the conveyor system and the buffer area.

Precisely Integrated into the Transfer Car

The design was integrated precisely into the existing chassis of the transfer car. The eccentric lifting movement and telescopic function are adapted to the available space and the requirements of the cold storage application. The system makes efficient use of the available installation space and enables the safe handling of heavy load carriers in production.
