We designed our special 300-1300 push-pull system for the modernization of an existing automated small parts warehouse (AKL). The main task in this retrofit project was to retain existing structures while significantly increasing the warehouse’s performance.

Optimized storage and retrieval of trays

The push-pull system automatically stores and retrieves trays with the dimensions 1320 x 620 mm. Up to three boxes can be placed in a row on each tray. The precise and reliable technology ensures a continuous flow of materials, significantly increasing throughput. At the same time, the system increases the overall availability of the warehouse.

Quality and Integration for Continuous Operation

A key challenge was the seamless integration of the push-pull system into the existing warehouse. Due to the customisation and proven quality of AFB, a solution was created that meets both the high demands of 24/7 operation and the individual conditions on site. Our push-pull system 300-1300 therefore provides a future-proof solution for modernized intralogistics systems.

The V-K2-70-196-2300 push-pull system with extendable prongs was specially developed for use in highly automated greenhouses, also known as vertical farms. The focus of the development was the gentle yet efficient handling of the benches, which is a particular requirement of these types of greenhouse. These trays, which are filled with plants and nutrient liquid, can weigh up to 180 kg and are picked up and delivered by the system on both sides.

Careful Transport for Maximum Process Reliability

To prevent the sensitive nutrient liquid from spilling in the benches, the push-pull system dispenses it with a smooth and fluend motion. During delivery, the device precisely pushes the trays into their designated positions. Two of these systems are installed on the lifting frame of the stacker crane for higher flexibility during transfers. Due to the food-grade design, the system meets the high hygiene standards essential for growing lettuce and other crops.

Efficiency at All Levels

The benches are stored across 16 levels within a cultivation area spanning over 1,000 square metres. This efficient use of space allows for high productivity and precise process control. The V-K2-70-196-2300 push-pull system is a key component for the successful operation of modern vertical farming facilities due to its combination of load capacity, gentle movement and hygienic design.

The 150–1300 push-pull system was specifically developed for use in an automated high-bay warehouse belonging to an international airline in Saudi Arabia. The aim was to safely and efficiently store luggage in standardized metal boxes measuring 600 x 1200 x 400 mm. The system was custom-designed to match the customer’s requirements and fulfils the high logistical demands of daily operations.

Reliability in 24/7 Operation

Our push-pull system is designed for continuous operation, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. With its robust construction and precise control, it ensures a smooth flow of materials in the high-bay warehouse, even under demanding conditions. This consistently high level of process reliability enables the airline to handle its baggage efficiently and on time.

Quality That Makes the Difference

In particular, international airports are subject to the highest standards in terms of reliability, safety and quality. The 150-1300 push-pull system meets these requirements due to its robust design and ability to operate continuously. This solution has boosted the efficiency of baggage logistics and greatly enhanced operational safety.

Push-pull system V-K2-55-173-1000

For one of our clients, we recently developed a reliable push-pull system for the storage and retrieval of trays. The custom-made device is used in the food industry and was designed to withstand environmental temperatures of up to -35°C. For optimal handling of the trays, two push-pull systems were mounted on a vertical conveyor. The loading and unloading are performed in the retracted state, with the support of robotic arms.

Technical data:

• Load: 100 kg
• Stroke: 1030 + 30 mm
• Length of the top fork: 300 mm
• Length of the unit: 1000 mm
• Adjustment range of prongs: 1119 mm – 1200 mm
• Speed telescopic fork (loaded / unloaded): 30 / 60 m/min
• Acceleration telescopic fork (loaded / unloaded): 0,5 / 1 m/s2
• Self weight of the complete unit: approx. 300 kg

Perfect integration into existing systems

The push-pull system with relative stroke that we manufactured for an aircraft manufacturer replaces the old device in a customer retrofit project. The challenge for AFB in the design and production was to adapt the new push-pull system to the existing storage and retrieval machine. The interface between our system and the existing storage and retrieval machine had to be implemented as it was with the previous device. In addition, it was important to continue to use the existing load carriers in connection with the new device.

Increased performance thanks to custom design

For the simulation of the implementation, one of our devices was made available to our customer in advance. The push-pull system with relative stroke was manufactured completely individually for 24/7 operation and integrates seamlessly into the existing system of the aircraft manufacturer. Our focus was to design and manufacture the push-pull system according to the latest state of the art in order to increase the performance of the old installation and to significantly reduce downtimes in future.

• Relative stroke: 144 mm
• Device length: 1486 mm
• Speed: 40/min
• Acceleration: 0,5 m/s2
• Self weight: Approx. 385 kg
